The Consortium is pleased to welcome to its ranks Kealin McLean, Samuel Cook and Nichole Moton. Meet and get to know the newest members of our team, including the critical role they play in advancing The Consortium’s mission.
Kealin McLean
Director, Recruiting
What do you do in your role?
[My role includes] helping students under the process of The Consortium and helping make sure their application is ready to be sent off to the university of their choice. I will also help [make decisions around] membership.
What are you most looking forward to about working for The Consortium?
The thing that I am most excited about is the people I get to work with. It is a great team here already, and I am happy to be a part of it.
What is your favorite way to waste time?
I like to play basketball on the weekend with old teammates of mine and watch NBA and NFL games during the week.
Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs! One is a Husky named Riot, and I have a Pit-mix named Iris.
Who had the biggest impact on the person you have become?
The person who has made the biggest impact on my life is my grandfather. He taught me how to work hard and treat people right, and I thank him all the time for that.
Samuel Cook
Manager, Corporate Relations
What do you do in your role?
In my role, I manage 47 accounts. I conduct research on behalf of my accounts, make sure that they are up to date on all billing and try to ensure that all questions they may have are addressed.
What are you most looking forward to about working for The Consortium?
I am most looking forward to playing a role in the continued diversification of the corporate workforce.
What is your favorite way to waste time?
My favorite way to waste time is watching Duke basketball games with my son.
What is the best vacation you’ve ever been on, and why?
My favorite vacation spot is St. Lucia. I loved going to a resort nestled within the Piton mountains and then proceeding to enjoy a few days at another resort nestled along the beach.
Who had the biggest impact on the person you have become?
My late father has definitely had the greatest impact on me. My dad and I spent countless hours talking about life, watching games, analyzing politics — and we were also alums of the same college, Morehouse.
What is the most underrated movie? Which one is the most overrated?
My favorite movie is The Empire Strikes Back. The most underrated movie to me would have to be Wait Until Dark — kind of an oldie.
Nichole Moton
Manager, Conferences & Events
What do you do in your role?
I assist with planning the annual Orientation Program & Career Forum (OP).
What are you most looking forward to about working for The Consortium?
I look forward to getting to know the team and working together to host an amazing event.
What is your favorite way to waste time?
Duolingo or scrolling social media.
What is the best vacation you’ve ever been on, and why?
New Orleans and San Juan. The food is amazing!
What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
I went ziplining.
What is the most underrated movie? Which one is the most overrated?
Mr. Church is one of the most underrated movies. [When it comes to overrated,] there are so many: Twilight, Elf, A Christmas Story, Hocus Pocus.
