Alumni Events at OP

Join us in Atlanta for alumni-focused workshops and events

You’ve been to The Consortium’s Orientation Program as a student—but now, we’ve got something in store for you as a Consortium alumnus. Join us for the 51st Annual Orientation Program & Career Forum in Atlanta for workshops targeted at you, plus the great networking opportunities you remember from your first OP.

Alumni-specific programming at OP is scheduled from June 9-11:

10:15-11:30 p.m.
Friday, June 9
Classes Unite: CGSM Wine Down & Cordials: After a day of travel and welcome festivities, alumni and students relax with late-night cordials and jazz. A networking opportunity for corporate sponsors, alumni and students.
9-9:45 a.m.
Saturday, June 10
Managing Up: Relationships that Count: HBR recently wrote that having a healthy, positive relationship with your boss makes your work life much easier. It’s also a necessity for job satisfaction and a successful career. But some managers don’t make it easy. Alumni participants will understand that even if their boss has serious shortcomings, it’s in their best interest, and it’s their responsibility, to make the relationship work. A panel of experts will provide practical advice for navigating this important dynamic.
10-10:45 a.m.
Saturday, June 10
C-Suite Essentials: Many leaders dream of reaching CEO status, but the rules of attainment aren’t always clear. CEOs from various industries will offer advice and strategies that help ambitious alumni answer the following questions: When it comes to managing your own career, how do you prepare yourself to move up? What abilities should young would-be executives focus on developing as they choose companies, functions, and jobs? And what skills should working executives hone as they strive to reach the next level? These aren’t easy questions to answer, but this thought-provoking session should at least get attendees on the right track.
11-11:45 a.m.
Saturday, June 10
Developing Marketable Board Skills: In 2017, organizations still struggle to populate boards with diverse talent. What are the barriers that make board membership unobtainable for many leaders of color? A panel of experts shares thoughts and offers strategies for landing seats on nonprofit and for-profit boards.
Noon-3 p.m.
Saturday, June 10
Old School Meets New School Day Bash: After a morning of insightful workshops, alumni will have a chance to let their hair down at a day party hosted by one of Atlanta’s hottest DJs. This is an excellent opportunity to network the afternoon away in a high-energy environment with alumni from earlier and more recent classes.
7-7:30 a.m.
Sunday, June 11
Mimosas and Mingling: Rise early on Sunday for a morning of networking and fresh mimosas.
7:30-8:15 a.m.
Sunday, June 11
General Breakfast Gathering: Ask the Alumni: After mimosas and mingling, alumni will join students for a sit-down breakfast. Students will benefit from alumni experiences in this fast-paced informal Q&A session.
